An anonymous domestic, moral tale for young people about the Ray family and its five children is set in a small village in [Pennsylvania?] and shows the influence of Louisa May Alcott. Numerous misspelled words indicate the writer was not well educated. Second version is pasted on pages of the first. Illustrated with pen and ink drawings at beginnings and ends of chapters. Hand sewn binding.
